Can anyone please tell me
how in 46 years of using a sewing machine
that I have missed this trick???????
To gather fabric,
place your machine tension on the highest number
AND
your stitch length on the longest stitch
and just sew!
Voila
No more stitching two rows and gathering
OR
zig zag over a thread to gather
OR
using a special foot!!!!
SO, DID YOU KNOW THIS????
Blessings all,
Kathy
I have known this trick for years, Jeannie said never.
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not know this. I have an old machine. Wonder if it would work on it! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the highest tension, but I knew about the longest stitch. I learned to use longest stitch (called basting stitch) and then grab the end and pull, and that would pucker it, but I like your way better!
ReplyDeleteNo! But I am glad I know now!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Michelle too, only one year when I was making ruffled skirts for bedspreads, I broke down and bought a ruffler attachment. Now I've got a different machine that the ruffler attachment doesn't go with, so thank you for this tip and terrific instructions!
ReplyDeleteNever knew this!
ReplyDeleteI did and have used it, but find that it can break sometimes. I prefer to zig zag over dental floss.
