I bought this "new" to me Singer Featherweight last year and am just now getting around to sewing and checking it out.
It was made in 1955...just like me!!!
We are both 57 years old...
I wound a bobbin
and adjusted the tension and sewed a practice sample.
Any suggestions, hints OR Featherweight knowledge???
Please share your expertise with me...THANKS !!!
Blessings all,
Kathy
So glad that you are finding the time to try it out! Have fun and create lots of pretty things! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, but it's super cool!!
ReplyDeleteYou will love stitching on this. So perfect for piecing. Best hint....oil it up often! Makes a big difference to keep it running smoothly. There's a book available--don't remember the name---on Featherweight 221s that has a great section on maintaining the machine and cleaning, etc. And several good website if you even need parts. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI have no suggestions, as I'm still trying to figure out and refurbish my 1912 Singer Treadle machine. No, we're not the same age (my machine and I) LOL. Beautiful machine. My mom had a Singer from 1957. Full wood cabinet and everything. These machines will always have a place in my heart! Good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have fun! The machine is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with her!!
